- **My furnace has stopped in the middle of the night. Can you come out?** Regular hours are 7:00am to 11:00pm. Outside those hours we do come out for genuine emergencies, when leaving it until morning is not an option.
- **What does a cracked heat exchanger look like?** It shows as a split or a scorch mark on the exchanger body, and it is checked on every service. A failed heat exchanger is replaced rather than repaired, because it can put combustion gas into the air the house breathes.
- **Why will my furnace not light?** The most common causes we see are a failed hot surface igniter, a blocked vent, a pressure hose leak that stops the switch proving, or a filter blocked badly enough to starve the furnace of air.
- **What parts of the furnace are cleaned?** The work focuses on the burners, blower assembly and accessible heat-exchanger areas. The exact cleaning depends on the furnace and its condition.
- **Is furnace cleaning the same as an inspection?** No. Cleaning removes buildup. An inspection focuses on the furnace’s condition, operation and safety. The two services are related, but they are not identical.
- **How often should a furnace be cleaned?** There is no single schedule for every home. Equipment, household conditions and buildup all matter. Darren can inspect the furnace and tell you whether cleaning is needed.
- **How often should a gas furnace be inspected?** An annual inspection is recommended for fuel-burning equipment. Many Barrie homeowners book before the heating season begins.
- **Does a working furnace still need an inspection?** Yes. Some wear, venting issues and heat-exchanger concerns are not obvious from the thermostat. An inspection looks beyond whether the furnace simply turns on.
- **Is an inspection the same as a repair?** No. An inspection assesses the furnace and identifies concerns. Any cleaning or repair that is needed is discussed separately.
- **Why does furnace size matter?** An oversized furnace may cycle too often, while an undersized furnace may struggle to heat the home. The equipment needs to suit the house and the system around it.
- **Can I replace my furnace with the same size?** Not automatically. The previous furnace may not have been correctly sized, and changes to the home can affect its heating needs. The system should be assessed first.

- **Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling?** Restricted airflow, control or electrical faults, and problems within the cooling system can produce similar symptoms. A diagnostic is the reliable way to find the actual cause.
- **Should I turn off an air conditioner that has iced up?** Yes. Continuing to run an iced system can make the problem worse. Turn it off and arrange an inspection before restarting it.
- **Should I repair or replace my air conditioner?** That depends on the system’s age, condition, repair history and the cost of the fault. Darren will explain the practical options after diagnosing it.
- **When should I book AC maintenance?** Spring or early summer is a practical time, before the air conditioner is needed every day.
- **Why do the coil and condenser matter?** They transfer heat from inside the home to the outdoors. Dirt, debris and restricted airflow can interfere with that process.
- **Is maintenance the same as a repair visit?** No. Maintenance checks and prepares a working system. Repair service diagnoses a specific fault or breakdown.
- **Why must an air conditioner match the furnace?** The furnace blower moves cooled air through the ductwork. The air conditioner, indoor coil and blower need to be compatible so the complete system can operate as intended.
